# Slide-deck artifacts

A deck is authored as one standalone HTML file per slide plus a shared
`deck.css` and a `deck.json` manifest, assembled and gated deterministically,
then exported. The per-slide sources under `.src/slides/` are the editable
truth for every future revision; slide ids never renumber.

Three rules hold on every slide, before any reference is read. **Sentence case
everywhere** (including stat labels). Never use `text-transform:uppercase` or
`letter-spacing` on any text. No slide furniture: pills, subtitles, summary
lines, eyebrows, kickers, badges, chips, tags, and captions do not belong
anywhere on a slide. The cover is the deck title over its hero image and
nothing else.

| Task | Read first |
|---|---|
| New deck | `/opt/hatch/skills/artifacts/presentation/references/workflow.md` plus the references it names |
| Edit an existing deck | `/opt/hatch/skills/artifacts/presentation/references/editing.md`, plus the references it names |
| Design and layout | `/opt/hatch/skills/artifacts/presentation/references/visual.md` |
| Theme generation or application | `/opt/hatch/skills/artifacts/presentation/references/theme.md` |
| Slides that plot data | `/opt/hatch/skills/artifacts/references/charts.md` (shared) |
| Slides that show a place or a map | `/opt/hatch/skills/artifacts/references/maps.md` (shared) |

## Scripts

| Script | What it does |
|---|---|
| `/opt/hatch/bin/hatch-slide-style` | Compiles the StylePlan; a deck is never built on an invented substitute plan |
| `/opt/hatch/skills/artifacts/scripts/embed_deck_fonts.mjs` | Subsets and embeds webfonts into deck.css; a font that will not download warns, never blocks |
| `/opt/hatch/skills/artifacts/scripts/assemble_deck.mjs` | Validates slide files against the manifest, enforces CSS scoping, emits the combined document; non-zero exit is unshippable |
| `/opt/hatch/skills/artifacts/scripts/render_audit.mjs` (shared) | Renders slides and runs the deck gates; `workflow.md` names the flags |
| `/opt/hatch/skills/artifacts/scripts/build_pptx.py` | Exports the validated PNGs as the PPTX and carries each slide's title into its speaker notes as best-effort accessibility text; the daemon-side rebuild path preserves those notes after UI edits |

## Verification

Follow `/opt/hatch/skills/artifacts/testing/SKILL.md`: run the gates, then read every
slide PNG fresh before returning a link.

apple_healthkitThe user's synced Apple Health (HealthKit) data: daily metrics (steps, distance, calories, heart rate, HRV, VO2max), sleep sessions (stages, quality, efficiency), and workouts.
artifact_documentCreate, read, edit, or manipulate Word documents (.docx) and Word templates (.dotx). Use whenever a build task's artifact kind is document with the default docx output, or the task mentions a Word doc, .docx, or .dotx, extracts or reorganizes content from one, inserts or replaces images, does find-and-replace in one, or works with tracked changes (redlines) or comments. Covers python-docx generation, raw OOXML editing of existing files, document structure and formatting, and render verification. Not for PDFs, spreadsheets, or Google Docs.
artifact_markdownBuild or revise a plain markdown file (md) deliverable such as notes, a README, meeting minutes, documentation, or text the user will edit or paste elsewhere. Use whenever a build task's artifact kind is markdown. Covers markdown formatting conventions and read-back verification.
artifact_pdfBuild, revise, or manipulate a fixed-layout PDF (report, guide, one-pager, printable document). Use whenever a build task's artifact kind is pdf, a document build's output format is pdf, or the task reads, merges, splits, crops, or fills an existing PDF, including fillable AcroForms. Covers authoring the print-CSS HTML source, rendering, the geometry and validation gates, existing-PDF manipulation and form filling, and delivery under workspace/your_files.
artifact_spreadsheetCreate, read, edit, fix, or clean spreadsheet files (.xlsx, .xlsm, .csv, .tsv). Use whenever a build task's artifact kind is spreadsheet, or the task names a spreadsheet file and wants something done to it or produced from it, including restructuring messy tabular data into a proper workbook. Covers openpyxl generation, formulas and recalculation, editing existing workbooks, and the validation gates. Not for tasks whose deliverable is a document, report, or web page that merely contains a table.
artifact_testingVerify an artifact before delivering it - file deliverables (pdf, pptx, docx, xlsx, csv) and web artifacts alike. Use whenever a build is about to return a link, or a build task asks for validation, QA, or a visual check. Covers the per-kind gate scripts, render-and-look verification, and leftover-placeholder scanning.
